Sound familiar?
- "I think it's in the cloud."
- The backup drive hasn't been plugged in for months.
- Nobody has ever tested a restore.
- Your customer list lives in one place.
- You don't know what you'd do if ransomware hit.
What I look at
- What matters
- The files, systems and records the business can't run without.
- Where the copies go
- What's backed up, how often, and whether a copy lives somewhere else.
- A test restore
- We pick something real and try to get it back, and time how long it takes.
- The plan for a bad day
- Who does what, in what order, and how long you could be down.
What you get
- A red, amber and green scorecard you can read in a minute.
- The test restore result: what came back, and how long it took.
- A list of gaps, in order, with the ones you can fix yourself marked.
- A one-page recovery plan you can keep somewhere other than the computer.
A backup you've never restored from is a hope, not a backup.
How it works
- Free 15-minute call (optional)
Tell me what's worrying you. If this review is the right one, I'll say so. If it isn't, I'll tell you that too.
- What I need from you
A walkthrough with you of where things live, and one test restore we run together.
- I do the review
I go through everything against a checklist, and I check every finding myself before it goes in the report.
- The written report
A red, amber and green scorecard up front, then each finding in plain English: what it is, what happens if you leave it, and how to fix it.
- Review call, 30 minutes
We go through it and decide what to fix first. Do it yourself from the list, or I'll fix it at a fixed price and credit the review fee toward it.
Straight answers
Fixes, such as setting up a proper backup or regular checks, are a separate project at a fixed price, with the review fee credited toward it.
We use Google Drive or OneDrive. Isn't that a backup?
It's a copy, and a good start. If something gets deleted or encrypted, that change can sync everywhere. The review checks whether you could actually get it back.
Will the test restore touch our live files?
No. We restore to a separate place and compare.
